AJ Smith-Shawver placed on 15-day IL with elbow strain

Between today’s doubles against the Phillies, the Braves placed right-handers AJ Smith-Shawver On the 15-day injury list, there is right elbow strain. Right-leaning Michael Peterson Has been recalled to take his place in an active roster.

Smith-Shawver started his first double bill today but left in the third inning. He has had some initial speculation that he suffered a foot injury since he was hit by a comeback in the game, but it is now obvious that it is a more ominous elbow injury. According to MLB.com’s Mark Bowman, the right feels his elbow pop and is now back in Atlanta for testing. These tests will show more information, but manager Brian Snitker said: “It doesn’t look good.”

There will certainly be more specific information after Smith-Shawver visits with medical experts, but in this case the worst seems fair. The ghost of famous surgery is always imminent when the pitcher’s elbows are attracted by people, and in this case the omen seems particularly frustrating. Even if Smith-Shawver can avoid scalpels, it is still possible that there is a possibility that some sort of scalpel is missing.

Before the injury, Smith-Shawver seemed to be adding some breakthroughs. He entered the season with only 29 2/3 major league experience. He added 41 2/3 innings in eight games this year before today’s cutoff. He allowed 3.67 runs in those who shot 22.7% from three and walked 11%. He seems to be establishing himself as a true major league starter, but will now be put on hold, potentially for a long time.

For the club, they will have to figure out how to fill the rotational position. Reynaldo López Due to shoulder surgery for arthroscopy, there are still several months away from the potential reward. There are currently four locations Chris Sales,,,,, Spencer Strider,,,,, Spencer Schwellenbach and Grant Holmes.

Bauman, Elder Bryce It is likely to take over Smith-Shawver. There are 4.50 ERAs in eight games in Atlanta this year. They can also kick this decision a little bit. They made sales for tonight’s game, followed by Holmes, Schreid and Streid in their weekend series against the Red Sox. They are closed on Monday so they can be reselled during regular Tuesday breaks. This means that elders are not needed until next weekend, although they can also call him early next week and push everyone back to the day.

Assuming the elder has a rotation location for a while, the highest depth choice for the club may now be Hurston Waldrep,,,,, Nathan Wells and Davis Daniel. All three of them are in the 40-man squad and pitch in Triple-A.
