French Open 2025 results: Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic advance on frustrating and dramatic dates

Italian three-time minority champion Sinner has expanded his winning streak in the top 20 to 63 games.

In doing so, he ended Gasquet’s career, the 38-year-old Roland Garros made his debut for 23 years.

Sinner claimed to beat Gasquet 6-3 6-0 6-4, but the day was still Gasquet, with the French speaking to the worshiping crowd and accepting the memorial trophy.

“I’ve thought about this day and hope it will never come, but today is,” Gasquit said.

“I can’t dream of anything more than standing in this incredible court, the most beautiful court in the world.”

Later that day, Serb Djokovic, 38, continued his good form by defeating France’s Moutet 6-3 6-2 7-6 (7-1).

Djokovic came to Roland Garros, a three-time champion Roland Garros who won his 100th ATP singles title last week in Geneva and maintained the benefits of the match against Moutet, winning the game in just three hours.

Djokovic’s only potential fragment was being treated on the toe of his left foot in his third set, but he seemed to shrugged by resuming his victory to win the game.

He will face Canada’s 27th seed Denis Shapovalov or Austria’s Filip in the third round.
