Meanwhile, Italy’s eighth seed Lorenzo Musetti entered the third round with a 6-4 6-0 6-4 victory.
In the men’s doubles match, Jacob Fearnley, who won his first French open singles match on Monday, entered the second round safely with Canada’s Gabriel Diallo, defeating Nicolas Barrientos and Nicolas Barrientos of Colombia and India 6-0 6-2, respectively.
Briton Luke Johnson entered the second round of the Grand Slam for the third time as he and his Dutch partner Sander Arends defeated Marcelo Demoliner and Nicolas Jarrine 3-6 6-3 7-6 (10-6).
