France Open 2025: Emma Raducanu

Emma Raducanu’s tragic record of Iga Swiatek continues as she was defeated by the defending champion in the second round of the French Open.

Britain ranked second in the Paris Clay 6-1 6-2 and now she lost all five games against the five Grand Slam titles.

It’s another reminder of the Bay that it still exists between No. 41 Raducanu and the leading player on the WTA Tour.

After being unable to turn a breakpoint in the second game, 22-year-old Raducanu quickly lost his way as fifth seed Swiatek shocked five straight games.

Raducanu’s second serve was under severe pressure and her ground was growing as the 23-year-old from Poland won the opening ceremony in 35 minutes.

Swiatek has won four of the past five Roland Garros titles, so she is known as the “Clay Queen” as she has a huge record here and quickly leads 2-1 in the second set.

However, after a sub-par clay field swing, there were some doubts about her level, and they reappeared when Raducanu threatened to retreat immediately.

But Swiatek managed to keep himself strong under pressure—one of the key differences between her identity and Lacanu’s players—saving three breakout points in the long fourth game.

Raducanu fell ill before the opening match on Monday and started running out of steam and lost his last three games with little resistance.
