William James of Philadelphia Hockey: With some RFAs required, Philadelphia Flyers may not have a lot of remaining cap space. They have wingers and defenders, but some centers can be used. They can free up some cap space and rosters through trades. They may want to move potential assets.
Rasmus Ristolainen – RHD – Two years left with $5.1 million – had been in trade rumors. If he is ready, flyers can get the flexibility and roster of hats. Bonk is not ready yet, they need to find Travis Sanheim as a partner. The $5.1 million for the third pairing is too much. Do they have to keep their salary?
Ivan Fedotov – G – $3.275 million remaining in the year – Sam Ersson is probably the best goalkeeper in the flyer. Fedotov’s contract is a bit high for backups. They can keep and move, or see if the non-custodian will sign the entire contract.

Owen Tippett – RW/LW – $6.25 million left in 7 years – He has potential, but it may boil down to numbers. Matvei Michkov and Travis Konecny were not traded. Tyson Foerster might be a cheaper, younger, better option. This may not be an easy deal.

Mason McTavish – Anaheim Ducks – Waiting for RFA, scoring 22 goals and 30 assists last season. Provide tables or trades. They have some players and/or draft picks. Ducks own/will have some younger players who need bigger contracts and they need to make some decisions.
Matty Beniers – Seattle Kraken – Seattle Kraken is in bad shape and Beniers takes a step back. Can the flyer offer packages that include 2025’s first and second round picks, two rosters and one prospect?

Elias Pettersson – Vancouver Canucks – produced last year to drop to 45 points and signed a big contract. According to the contract, a $11.6 million contract was reached until after the 2031-32 season. An agreement carries risks (both parties).
