Novak Djokovic: Veteran beat Hubert Hurkacz at Geneva Open

The victory made Djokovic his first title since Olympic Gold in Paris last year – the highest point of a tough year for tennis.

His run against the Australian Open semifinal ended with an injury, and then his first attempt to claim his 100th title ended at the Miami Open by Czech junior Jakub Mensik.

The clay season was particularly tricky as Djokovic lost his opening in Monte Carlo and Madrid before opting out of the Italian Open.

The split was subsequently split with coach Andy Murray, but as Djokovic improved in every game, the decision to bring wildcards to Geneva paid off, his service and return in particular to the archives.

Most of the crowd in Geneva stood by him, and it was the Serbs who got their first break with a 2-2 chance.

But after a serious knee injury at Wimbledon last year, a large server recovered Hurkacz, who produced ACE and service winners at a critical period to put him in trouble.

In fact, it was Djokovic's mistake, not his opponent's outstanding performance, that determined the first set. Unfortunately, an unfortunate net rope gives Hurkacz the first breakpoint in the scene, and Djokovic's terrible double fault handed it over to it.

The second set of Hurkacz service games seemed to be ongoing, with Djokovic constantly pushing for the opening ceremony, but his non-featured missteps allowed his 28-year-old opponent to struggle freely – which attracted Djokovic's Wry Entertainment to a large extent.

The Serbs raised his level in the tiebreak, smashing a winner and forcing a decisive match, but it was Hulkaz who broke in at the start of the third time.

Both players’ service games were shocked before a terrible game with a 4-3 advantage in the pole position. With Hurkacz's body tense and full of tension, this mistake sets Djokovic apart, the world's sixth place shaking his racket on the racquet that celebrates.

The feeling of tiebreak was almost inevitable, Djokovic escaped again and then blocked it with ace.

The two had a warm hug online, and then Hurkacz, who was obviously frustrated, covered his head with a towel as Victor thanked the crowd.
