Geneva Open: Novak Djokovic beats Cameron Norrie

Novak Djokovic won a tough victory against England's Cameron Norrie in the semifinals of the Geneva Open, claiming a victory from his 100th ATP Tour title.

Djokovic celebrated his 38th birthday Thursday, bidding to be the third person in the open era – behind Jimmy Connors and Roger Federer to win 100 ATP titles.

The 24-time Grand Slam champion beat Norrie 6-4 6-4 (6-8) 6-1 for a tough 6-4 6-7 (6-8) for a tough 6-4 6-7 (6-8).

Djokovic will face Poland's Hubert Hurkacz in Saturday's final since winning the Olympic gold medal in Paris last summer.

“That’s the toughest game for me so far,” the world’s sixth place said in his stadium interview.

Norrie played in the first semifinal of the season, with Djokovic only two points on the serve as the Serb played in the opener.

However, it was the British who got the control in the second set, which first challenged Djokovic's serve to migrate 4-1 for the first time.

“This means a lot [to reach the final]. So let's find a title. ”

It was a disappointing clay season for Djokovic, who immediately exported in Madrid and Monte Carlo.

But the ATP 250 title in Geneva could be the perfect trust booster ahead of the French Open, where he will chase the record 25th Grand Slam title.

Djokovic will face US Mackenzie McDonald in the first round of Roland Garros, who will begin on Sunday.
