James Maddison laughs at Roy Keane after Europa League final

James Maddison and Roy Keane have been commenting on each other back and forth throughout the season, but it was the Tottenham Hotspur star who laughed the last after winning the Europa League final.

What does Roy Keane say about James Maddison?

Roy Keane is no stranger to what to say and think, and certainly he didn't back down when he thought about James Maddison this season.

Fighting for form throughout the season, Keane broke into Madison in a February “Overlapping” episode, saying he didn't step up his team at all in 2025.

“Madison is not bad when he's not on the darts,” Keane said. “But let me tell you if you think he will come back [from injury] And put the Spurs into the top six, you are in the Cuckoo Land. He is very good, he is a talented player.

“But if you're a player in the Spurs locker room and Madison is back on the team, you're not going to look at, 'Oh, Jesus – He's back today. We'll be fine.'”

The Spurs midfielder responded poetically to Keane in the next game as he scored his only goal to beat Keane's beloved Manchester United 1-0.

If his goal is not enough to silence Madison’s greatest hatred, then his celebration is. The 28-year-old staggered his camera after his goal, and his iconic darts and fans quickly suggested that both were targeting the United legend.

Keane immediately poked another cheeky dig on the former Leicester midfielder after his match against United, and seven-time Premier League champion Keen got the final say.

“I still say something to me, I don't think he's done enough…I hope he will do the same thing again the other day, but his objection to Ipswich….”

James Maddison finally laughed

Madison decided to be interviewed on CBS – despite not participating in the final after Tottenham Hotspur beat Manchester United for the fourth time this season.

He started the interview and said, “I won't give you any interviews, but I heard Roy Keane was in the studio tonight…” Maddison then celebrated at the celebration and continued, “Roy Keane, that's for you, son!”

Keane immediately turned red in the studio when the camera flew at him.

There was obviously no blood between the two, as Keane made sure to congratulate Maddison on winning the Europa League.

Tottenham Star believes that experts like Keane motivated his team in a tough season, with negative comments pushing the team to win its first major trophy in 17 years.
