Angels have agreed to sign a minor league contract with left-handed rescuer Sammy PeraltaAccording to the team's transaction log on MLB.com. He has been pitching with El Aguila de Veracruz in the Mexican League and will be temporarily heading to Triple-A Salt Lake. He is represented by his superb talent sports and entertainment.
Peralta, 27, spent most of her career in the white sock system. He reached the professional in both 2023 and 2024, recording 35 innings of 4.37 ERA balls, strikeout rate of 17.9%, walking rate of 11.1% and 41.7% ground ball rate. This soft Southpaw averaged just 89.3 mph in his four shoes professions and was nestled in the 78 mph range at 78 mph, with an average change of 82 mph per hour.
Peralta opened in the 2025 season and performed well in a strong hit-friendly environment in Mexico – and interestingly as a starting pitcher. The 6'2-inch lefty has been a reliefist for almost the entire career, but started the 2.53 ERA with a 22-2 k/bb ratio in 21 1/3 innings (26.5 k%, 2.4 bb%) and scored a 22-2 K/B ratio. All 25 of Peralta's major league appearances were relief outings, with only nine of his 150 minor league games starting. He never pitched more than four innings in a professional look before signing in Mexico.
It is not clear which role Peralta will play in Halos. I was told that his extension in Mexico was not necessarily due to a preference for the starting role, but just to expand his versatility. Angels' starter ranked 19th in the Grand Slam with 3.99 ERA Jack Kochanowicz (4.71 Era) and Kyle Hendricks (5.32 ERA) Struggling in nine games. Angels' Bullpen died in the Grand Slam with 6.82 ERA, they recently lost Ben Joyce Perform end-of-season shoulder surgery. Peralta has a 4.44 ERA on a 50 2/3 relief inning at the 2025 Triple-A level and has a career average of 4.80 in 125 2/3 innings, a strikeout rate of 21.1%, a 21.1% three-point shooting rate and an 8.8% walk rate.
