Golf Business News – March Round's Average Hit Rate to 13 Years

Leading sports research and data analytics company Sport Insights reported a strong finale of golfing in the UK in the first quarter of 2025, and the company reported a 41% increase in March on 2024 figures.

The average round in March is the highest since 2012, inspired by unusually warm and sunny springs and the continued popularity of golf, up from reports on post-plankton booms in 2022 and 2023. The weather in March 2024 was particularly wet and especially frustrating, further exacerbating the differences between the same month this month.

In total, the average growth of Q1 2025 was 18%, which is more effective than the 2024 level, in 2022 and mid-2023.

John Bushell, managing director of Sporting Insights, reflected: “I am so happy for all the golf courses and clubs I know, and they work hard to provide the best match conditions, membership and welcoming visitors over the past few years.

“The club has successfully fought the recent winter and spring waters that are wetter than the long-term average and have paid off in certain use. Engagement is still strong and golf is still in a good position.

“Golf brings tremendous physical, social and mental health benefits, and I’m glad that more and more people find lifelong value and joy in this sport.
