Vanderbilt's Devin McGlockton exits from 2025 NBA Draft

Vanderbilt forward Devin McGlockton plans to withdraw his name from the 2025 NBA Draft and return to the Commodores.

McGlockton, who is 6-foot-7 and weighs 220 pounds, has not received an invitation from the NBA Draft or the G League elite training camp. He spent two seasons at Boston College before transferring to Vanderbilt last year.

McGlockton was a two-sport athlete who played basketball and soccer at South Forsyth High School. His breakthrough season was during his junior year, with an average of 18 points and 8 rebounds.

He was named Forsyth County News 2020-2021 Player of the Year. Then, during his senior year, he averaged double-double (18 points and 10 rebounds) and led his team to his first regional championship in 23 years.

In 102 professional NCAA regular season games (79 games) in three seasons, he averaged 8.9 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 24.3 minutes of games, while shooting 56.4% from the field and Deep shot 36.4% from the field.

McGlockton started all 36 games at Boston College in 2023-24, averaging 10.2 points and 6.3 rebounds per game in his sophomore season. He earned double digits on 19 outings, with 16 of them taking ACC or NIT action.

Additionally, McGlockton scored a career-high 30 points on 15-87 hits against Georgia Tech. He then scored a career-best 14 rebounds and scored 15 points against Syracuse for doubles.

In McGlockton's first season at Vanderbilt in 2024-25, he averaged a career-high 10.3 points, 7.9 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game, while the floor shot 56.8% from the field and 33.8% from three-pointers.

Last season, he ranked seventh in the SEC's total rebounds (260), third in offensive rebounds (103), sixth in real shooting percentage (62.9%), 17th in blocks (127), and third in offensive rating (132.7).

“Devin is super talented, and I think he will be very successful for us and will be a successful professional,” said Vanderbilt head coach Mark Byington.

“He has the ability to influence the game in various ways – scoring, passing, rebounding, defending and making the resilience that changes the game work.”

McGlockton is expected to remain a Commodores starter in his senior season. The Georgians plan to continue playing at the power forward position.
