Italy opens 2025 results: Jack Draper loses to Roma's quarterfinal Carlos Alcalaz

When Carlos Alcaraz showed his quality, Britain's No. 1 Jack Draper was eliminated from the Italian Open.
Draper, 23, was defeated 6-4 6-4 as the world third Alcaraz fought bravely to save rest points at critical moments and seize their own chances when they came.
British Draper was fifth in the ATP rankings, leading 4-2 in the first set, then Alcaraz struggled to lead.
To reach the Madrid Open final last week, Draper recovered in the second set and kept putting pressure on Alcalazz's serve.
But he couldn't switch to two breakthrough points and ran off the momentum of dominating French Open champion Alcaraz after a long eighth game.
Alcaraz is the first match in the Rome semi-finals and will play Italy's Lorenzo Musetti or Germany's Alexander Zverev in the last four.
And more.
