Kelly Oubre, Andre Drummond and Eric Gordon with the 76ers

Keeping the Grimes will obviously be a priority, and fortunately, for the Sixers this summer, the NBA's salary cap environment is for them to re-sign not only for the 24-year-old breakthrough defender, but also to comply with team-friendly contracts. But the keys that fit the Grimes, Yabusele, Kelly Oubre Jr. and the top six draft picks are Yabusele's deals, which doesn't limit the team's flexibility. If he considers the taxpayer's middle-level exception, expected to be worth up to two years, about $11.6 million, the Sixers will be able to spend everything they need to re-sign the rest of the main free agents. If it takes more money to get 76ers to resign Yabusele, they will need to immerse the mid-level exception of non-taxers. Doing so will start the hard cap on the first apron of the first 76ers, when they can fit into the grimes, first-round picks, and other possibilities beyond the minimum contract. Andre Drummond has a $5 million player option that he might choose–perhaps a salary dump of an expiring deal that could help the 76ers clear rooms under hard hats if Yabusele's market grows. -Via Philly Voice/ April 15, 2025
