Chelsea suffers from potentially defined Nicholas Jackson red card blow

Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson will miss the rest of the Premier League after upgrading a yellow card to a straight red card against Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon.
Newcastle is less than two minutes ahead in the Champions League qualifier at St James'Park. Both clubs started the day in the top five in the division, but any drop in score could cause damage to Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest, which lies sinisterly in the sixth and seventh innings.
Jackson made strong contact with Sven Botman's chin within half an hour of the game, limited to seven contacts. The two were ostensibly challenging for the long punt, although the replay clearly showed that Jackson took his sight away from the ball before placing his forearm at Newcastle’s centre-back.
On-Pitch referee John Brooks initially awarded Chelsea a yellow card, but officials were quickly taken to the touch-end monitor.

The official Premier League match center x The account explains the order of the incidents that led to Jackson's dismissal: “VAR checked the referee's appeal to Jackson – and believed that Jackson's challenge on Botman was a serious foul offense, so it was recommended to conduct a live review. The referee then upgraded the yellow to a red card.”
Article 12 of the FA manual describes serious foul effects as “an endangering the opponent or using excessive force or cruel tackles or challenges.”
A typical ban for red cards to punish “serious fouls” is three games. Unless Chelsea can successfully appeal Brooks' decision, Enzo Maresca will not have his preferred striker for the rest of the Premier League campaign, ending next Friday with the Champions League Nottingham Forest.
However, Jackson will be available in the upcoming league final against Real Betis, as the suspension of Premier League red cards will not continue to mainland games.
