Cayden and Cameron Boozer Q&A: “These memories will last for a lifetime. You don't want to ruin them to see the future'

Kayden and Cameron Boozertwin sons of former NBA All-Star Carlos Boozerwill be held this fall at Duke University’s highly anticipated university debut. At the Nike Hoop Summit last month, South Florida natives were top recruits in the 2025 grade, showing their games against other top high schools and international prospects in Portland, Oregon.

Cayden is a stoic gaming floor general who emphasizes his court vision and film study habits, while Cameron is a versatile striker Jayson Tatum and Paolo Bancherowhile talking about embracing modern games, they are rooted in their father’s lessons.

In a conversation with Hoopshype, the twins reveal moments about staying in the present, dealing with adversity, becoming the next great Duke duo and more.

Cayden Boozer: I mean, that's great. Whatever the benefits are really in these experiences, having someone you can trust because I mean, adversity in all these camps is difficult. So having someone you can always know you can talk to and trust on the court makes the game easier.

Kayden: I mean, of course, because I was always younger than him when I was young. Actually, until sixth grade, I was actually just a small one – my growth breaks through. I went from being 5 feet 3 to 5 feet 10 and started growing. But we always knew we had different styles of playing and we knew how to play each other because our styles of playing are so different. Since our game style is not super similar, it will not affect other players. So, this makes the game much easier.

Kayden: Jamal Murray,,,,, Shai,,,,, Jalen Brunson,,,,, Devin Booker – The best defender. I just want to steal from everyone Jrue Holidaysa very good defender. Just wanted to steal some from everyone, but be my best version. Ultimately, I want to be the first Cayden Boozer, not the coming of someone else. So just trying to steal from all the great men.

Kayden: I have always been a point guard and I do a study for my teammates. Obviously, as I get older, I will play with many of the great players in the league. If I were playing with a star, I would have to catch up with those guys to play. So I tried to do both, but I kept playing on the ball. Whatever the team needs me to do, I’m happy to do it.

Kayden: It's how I control the game. This is a skill to control the game. Many point guards, especially when they were young, had a lot of mistakes. I feel like I didn’t really make so many mistakes throughout my high school career. And my assists and transformation ratio is indeed very high. So I think that's underestimated to me.

Kayden: It took some time. It took some time. I mean, in my sophomore year, I had a game with Imhotep (HS) and I had to go through these struggles. It's obviously a point guard at this level, which is hard. You have many other great defenders who you are just trying to separate yourself from them. So I know I'm a very good passer, so I have to be smart about my passes and try to help my teammates win anyway. Of course, this is a process. But when you watch movies and are playing these games, you are getting these game reps and you get better. You will be able to read the game easily.

Kayden: Absolutely easy. We are very honest with each other and we check each other. We don’t want each of us to become complacent because it’s just the beginning of our journey. Obviously, we have a great high school resume, but it will change at the college level. We will have to start over and the NBA will start over. So we have to stay in place with each other and make sure we are not complacent.

Kayden: I mean, just stay in the moment. Your life, you are looking forward to what will happen next. But when you are in the moment, you will cherish it and now you will have the best. Obviously, your future will be great when you get there. But, just stay in the present – these memories will last for a lifetime. You don't want to ruin them looking at the future. So stay in the present moment. My game was awful and I had too many mistakes.

Kayden: I've been like Chris Paul,,,,, Russell Westbrook,,,,, Immanuel Quickley – Just the defender there. The most important thing is to continue working. Many people love the way it lives, but they don’t understand that you have to keep working when you get there. So, just to keep working and stay in the moment.

Kayden: I mean, obviously we suffered a heartbreaking loss in the last four games. However, any Duke expects to win a national championship. I feel like being with the team we have, hopefully we will see who comes back and who we are going to transfer, but I feel like we will have a good shot to win the national championship. This is the standard. Apart from that, we want nothing. Therefore, the goal is to win the national championship.

Kayden: I mean, we all know that most schools really hate Duke. So I mean, I played the villain very well. We want to win at Duke. So if that means we will be villains, that means we will be villains.

Kayden: Obviously, we won a lot of wins in high school. So, some people may not want us to win. But I mean, it could be much bigger at that stage because it is the biggest stage in college basketball. So, I'm sure it's going to be another type of adversity, but I'm excited about it. I've been dreaming about this since I was a kid. So I'm looking forward to it.

Cameron Boozer: Yes, it's amazing to be with the top 12 guys in the country. It's a great feeling – compete with some of the best players and play as some of the best international players. This will be a great test for us and we will follow it.

Cameron: I mean, it's special to experience it with someone so close to you, keeping someone around you. It also helps, and I think that makes it more enjoyable at the same time.

Cameron: It was amazing to go to college with someone close to me, that was my brother. We live together, everything is together, and we will be together for the rest of our lives. So our goal is just to go there, compete and win the national championship.

Cameron: I mean, honestly, I just want to be my best version.

Cameron: I think I am a person who can do it all. Whatever you need me to do on the court, I can do it.

Cameron: A lot of Tatum, and even some guys like Giannis – bigger wings.

Cameron: must.

Cameron: I mean, I think you can say that. I think what I get from it is mainly the learning experience and what it takes to be a professional.

Cameron: Stay in this moment, work hard, and have the right mindset.

Cameron: Of course it's difficult. I have a lot of great schools and a lot of great coaching staff. So, for me, it was certainly a difficult decision. But ultimately, Duke was the right decision for me to enter the next stage of my career.

Cameron: Yes, of course, we are excited. I mean, we need to put big shoes on, but we are not worried. We know the kind of people we bring in, we know the competitive spirit we have. I think we will be great next year.

What were your expectations at the time – the national championship this season?

Cameron: Yes

Cameron: I don't think so. I might say the Thompson Twins just because they are from South Florida like we are and they do a lot of great things.

Cameron: I mean, I'm not sure what he did, but it's definitely fun.

Wouldn't he talk to you?

Cameron I mean, we can still get it on my feed. We've talked about it before, but it's interesting.
