Game review

The Hurricanes dominated the first 20 minutes of the game, but were unable to play against Capitals goalkeeper Logan Thompson in the first phase of the first phase without scoring. The Carolina goal was considered 12 but had 37 shot attempts at the Washington Net, including a puck, drew the red iron harmlessly to the board. The hurricane brought great pressure and continued the game, which allowed the hometown capital to slide its back in the early stages of the first phase.

Washington survived the early storm by standing tall and blocking 15 photos in front of Thompson. Capitals forward Brandon Duhaime led the team with four blocks during this period, which helped after 49 seconds of the free throw kill. Matt Roy (three blocks) and Jakob Chychryn (two) led the Blue Line effort, which allowed most Capital Defense to get blocks in the first phase. It's a first phase of physics as the capital and hurricanes fight for space on frozen floors. Washington hit a total of 13 hits, while Carolina made 15 body checks, making a total of 28 hits between the Metz Division rivals.

In the middle frame, the game is also physical. Carolina bent 17 more bodies, while Washington collected 12 physical examinations. The hurricane continues to take possession of the puck, but also strives to find daylight through Washington's 10 lockdown shots, in addition to several pucks collided with the hurricane trying to set the screen in front of Thompson.

Washington hit the scoreboard for the first time on Aliaksei Prota's first professional playoff goal in the NHL. Protas pushed the puck out of Duhaime's feet, rushed down the right wall on the defensive blue line, and shot a low shot out of the opposite circle, sliding over Frederik Andersen's left pad and leading the bottom left corner of the Nets 3:53 in the second phase, into the bottom left corner of the Nets.

The middle frame was in defensive battle. Thompson stopped all eight shots and fired from the walls of the capital defender. The focus needed to thwart the Carolina offense did not give Washington an offense to increase its lead. They completed six shots during this period.

The third stage features more of the same characteristics as the hurricane pushes the race. First, they had to kill Jackson Blake's early Jackson Blake in less than a minute in Phase 3. The power play ended with an undisciplined slash of Alex Ovechkin at 2:28, but Carolina couldn't find an equaliser on the resulting Shiva's advantage.

The Hurricane kept the pressure and buried the game's goal a few minutes later. With 10:21 left in the game, Washington defeated a defensive zone breakout attempt on the skates of teammate Alexander Alexeev, leading to offensive zone turnover. Hurricane forward Jesperi Kotkaniemi jumped onto the loose puck and pointed it at Logan Stankoven, who beat Thompson's stretched out gloves to tie the game up. This is Carolina's 27th goal.

Jaccob Slavin of Hurricane, Carolina

As neither team was unable to find a winner in the remaining 10 minutes of regulation, Capital One Arena's first game went into overtime. As Carolina's game plan proved successful again, it took only 3:06 bonus hockey to find the winner. The Hurricane first rode the puck from left to right around the board, looking for an open shot option. Dmitry Orlov didn't like his appearance, so he rode the puck down low with Jordan Martinook on the goal line. He sent a bank pass to Slavin at the right point. The Hurricane Blues had enough traffic in front of the net and slipped a low-speed shot under the right pad of the Washington tennis machine to score a 2-1 Carolina championship goal.

The Hurricanes dominated the game from the puck's drop and had a 33-14 shot advantage over the Capitals in Game 1. SpencerCarbery and his coaching staff must now return to the drawing board to figure out how to launch an offensive attack while trying to slow down the ruthless Carolina attack. The second game was on the same location in Washington, D.C. on Thursday night
