Maresca must have axe 30 million this summer Chelsea flop

In recent years, there has not been a keen active in the transfer market as Chelsea has.

As Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital completed their takeover of the club three years ago, the Blues signed more than 40 first-team players for a price of over £1 billion.

Some of these signings proved to be major successes, some signed without traces, while others proved to be a huge waste of money, and a current roster member arrived last summer, which proved to be reminiscent of Chelsea’s worst signing ever; Danny Drinkwate.

Leicester City's 2015/16 Premier League Champion Win (Triumph), drinking will always be remembered.

He started 35 league games that season, heading alongside N'Golo Kanté, including the Bleacher Report tagged as “Strong”.

Drinkwater reunited with Chelsea’s Kanté a year later, and the Blues paid £35m to secure his service, but it’s safe to say that the move paid off and the table below helped support the claim.

Chelsea's latest big failure

Last summer, Chelsea signed the less spotted Kiernan Dewsbury hall in Leicester City for a reported £30million and reunite with manager Enzo Maresca, who, according to Guardian's Jacob Steinberg, said he thought he was ideal for Chelsea.

Maresca also described the midfielder as “wonderful” and supported him as “important” figure.

Well, so to speak, this did not happen, as described in the table below.

As the table outlines, Dewsbury-Hall has only two games this season, with only two games, and has seen 254 minutes at the same time, which is much less than João Félix and Axel Disasi, who both allow them to loan in January.

However, in the conference league, it's a completely different story, considering that he's already started 12 of the Blues' 13 fixtures, he's scored 3 times on Target when he won Gent, Shamrock Rovers and København at home runs.

Still, the 26-year-old certainly can’t be satisfied with the limited role, so why football insider Pete O’Rourke reports that he will “can make a transfer” while TeamTalk’s Ciaran McCarthy adds that the Blues will “quite optimistic” to “request” to compensate for the £30 million paid for him last summer.

Jonathan Wilson of The Guardian believes that Dewsbury-Hall will never get enough opportunities at Chelsea and must leave to avoid further developmental delays, and the Blues should pay for the depreciation of their second edition of Dewsbury-Hall as soon as possible.
