Ken becomes the first to enter the final match of Wood Hall Spa – Golf News

Ken Powell of Kent has become the first candidate of all time to sponsor the Wood Hall Spa Finals competition through golf trips.

Ken accumulated 38 points in his home course at North Foreland, trailing only the winner Mason Hannant and earned his place in the final at Woodhall Spa in August.

He said: “I'm very happy to be in the regional qualifiers in North Foreland. The environment is perfect for golf. The good condition is good, the weather is friendly, just a light breeze.

“I’m a little nervous on behalf of my family club, but I’m encouraged a lot from membership. Fortunately, my game is great and the short game is hot!

“It would be great to show the paratroopers in the final at Woodall Spa and hopefully I can play well. Just being there is a good one!”

The 67-year-old from Ramsgate, Kent suffered two spinal strokes in 2021, which left him hospitalized for nearly a year and was worried that he might never play golf again.

However, after two and a half years of hospitalization and rehabilitation, Ken was able to build a Gofundme page to be able to buy paratroopers.

He added: “It's like starting golf again. I used to play a pretty good standard – but then I tried to play golf with my arms.

“Send the waiter to lift you to the golf position. So I'm sitting on the off-road vehicle and when I hit a shot I put it in mode to improve my condition and lift me up in the air. This obviously makes me swing because you can't get out of the seating position.

“Hopefully the paratroopers will encourage others who never thought they would play golf again because it brings a lot of fun.

“Hopefully I can keep improving, I’d love to get stuck in a one-size barrier and enjoy the whole golf experience with my friends and new.”
