Miami Open 2026: Aryna Sabalenka defeats Coco Gauff in final to seal ‘Sunshine Double’

World number one Aryna Sabalenka defeated Coco Gauff 6-2 4-6 6-3 to retain her Miami Open title and extend her stellar start to 2026.

The 27-year-old Belarusian Sabalenka is the fifth female player to win the championship in Indian Wells and Miami, and the first female player to complete the “Sunshine Double” since Iga Swiatek in 2022.

Victoria Azarenka, Kim Clijsters and Steffi Graf are the other three women to previously achieve the feat.

Sabalenka won three WTA Tour titles this year and competed in 23 of 24 tournaments.

Her only loss was in January’s Australian Open final to world No. 2 Elena Rybakina, the only player in 2026 to win a set against Sabalenka before American Gauff sent the Miami final to a decider.
