Miami Open: Jannik Sinner extends winning streak

Jannik Sinner continued his stellar run at the Miami Open by defeating Alex Michelsen 7-5 7-6 (7-4).
The Italian world number two set a new record by winning 25 and 26 sets at the ATP Masters 1,000 event on Monday with a win over Corentin Mutai.
Sinner defeated Michelsen, winning 28 straight sets, but he didn’t quite get the win on his own terms. After winning the first set, he fell behind 2-5 in the second set and then took the lead in the tie-break.
The four-time Grand Slam winner has won the past two Masters 1,000 matches – in Indian Wells earlier this month and in Paris in November – without dropping a set.
In the women’s draw, Coco Gauff will face Belinda Bencic in the quarter-finals later on Tuesday, while Karolina Muchova advanced to the semi-finals with a 7-5 7-6 (7-5) victory over Canada’s Victoria Mboko.
Third seed Elena Rybakina ended Talia Gibson’s winning streak with a comprehensive 6-2 6-2 victory late on Monday to reach the quarterfinals.
The 21-year-old Australian, who has won 11 of her last 12 matches but lost to two-time Grand Slam champion Rybakina, will face fifth seed Jessica Pegula on Wednesday.
