Indian Wells: Cameron Norrie could face Carlos Alcaraz in quarter-finals after defeating Lynch Hijikata

Britain’s Cameron Norrie defeated Australian qualifier Rinky Hijikata in the last 16 at Indian Wells and could face world number one Carlos Alcaraz in the quarter-finals.
Noori, who is yet to drop a set in this year’s tournament, defeated sixth seed Alex De Minaur in the last round, 6-4 6-2, against world No. 117 Hijikata in one hour and 16 minutes.
The 30-year-old left-hander broke Hijikata’s serve in the first set of the match, and after finishing the first set, he broke twice more in the second set to advance to the quarterfinals.
With his own serve, the No. 27 seed faced only one break point in the match.
Norrie has a proven track record on hard courts in California.
This is his eighth time participating in the men’s singles competition and his fourth time reaching at least the quarterfinals.
He won the championship in 2021 but lost in the quarterfinals the next two years.
