Sebastian Korda kept his composure to defeat second-seeded Casper Ruud 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 on Saturday at the Delray Beach Open.

The Americans defeated Norway in two hours and six minutes to reach the semifinals of the tournament for the first time since 2021.

“I tried to fight as hard as I could,” Korda said. “Fortunately, I found some form and started playing well [first set]”.

There were more mistakes in the first set, with Korda making 17 unforced errors, but he took control of the game in the second set. He fought back at 40/0 on Vanney’s serve and reversed the momentum with a brave break at 3-2. He broke serve again in the eighth game and sealed the victory with a forehand return winner. In the third set, he broke serve early with a beautiful volley and eventually won 24 of the 29 points. According to ATP Infosys statistics, the 25-year-old blasted 10 aces and won 72% of his first serve points (34/47).

The American will compete with third seed Flavio Coboli for a spot in the final. Cobo defeated Coleman Wong 7-5, 6-7(7), 6-2 in 2 hours and 14 minutes, denying the 21-year-old his first tour-level semifinal.
