Lorenzo Musetti has exited HSBC’s Abierto Mexicano Telcel Presentado in Acapulco.
The Italian is still recovering from a psoas injury that forced him to withdraw from his Australian Open quarter-final against Novak Djokovic last month. Musetti, ranked fifth in the PIF ATP Rankings, was two sets ahead of Djokovic in the Melbourne match but was forced to withdraw.
“Hello everyone. I have to tell you that unfortunately I will not be able to compete in Acapulco,” Musetti said in Spanish in an Instagram video. “My body needs more recovery and it will take longer. I’m really looking forward to getting back to Mexico and playing there. I send a hug to all the fans and the game in Mexico and I hope you have a great time.”
According to the Infosys ATP Win-Loss Index, Musetti currently has a record of 7-2 in the 2026 season. The 23-year-old made his debut at the Nitto ATP Finals last year and started the year reaching the final in Hong Kong before reaching the quarter-finals in Melbourne.
