The Australian Open tennis tournament resumed on covered courts on Wednesday night after being disrupted by heavy rain, although downpours in Melbourne kept Cameron Norrie on his toes.

When the sky opened, Englishman Norrie was three points away from victory in a fourth-set tiebreaker against Emilio Nava 6-1, 7-6(3), 4-7, 6-6 (4/3) on Court 7. Three other men’s singles matches that were also suspended resumed within 30 minutes as the matches were played on courts with retractable roofs.

Home hope Alex De Minaur leveled 6-7(5), 6-2 with Hamad Mededovic at Rod Laver Arena, Frances Tiafoe tied Francesco Comesana 2-2 in the first set at Margaret Court Arena and Alexander Zverev held a 6-3, 4-6, 4-2 lead against Alexander Muller at John Cain Arena.
