Jack Draper announced on social media on Friday that he will not compete in the 2026 season in Australia as he continues to recover from an arm injury.
“Unfortunately, my team and I have decided not to travel to Australia this year. It was a very, very difficult decision and obviously Australia is the Grand Slam, which is one of the biggest events in our sport,” Draper said in a video he posted on X (formerly Twitter). “However, I have had this injury for a long time. I am in the final stages of the process and returning to the court so soon for a best-of-five set tennis match does not seem like a wise decision for me and my tennis right now.
“I’ve obviously had my fair share of setbacks so far. But this one, by far, is the most difficult and complicated one I’ve ever had to go through.”

The British southpaw has played one tour-level match since Wimbledon, winning in the first round of the U.S. Open. Draper subsequently withdrew from the final major of the season and did not play again in 2025.
The 24-year-old has been battling an arm injury. The No. 10 player in the PIF ATP rankings has a 30-9 record in 2025, according to the Infosys ATP Win-Loss Index. He won his first ATP Masters 1000 title in Indian Wells.
“It always seems to try to make me more resilient, make me hungrier and make me just want to be the player I want to be,” Draper said of his injury. “I’m looking forward to getting back out there and competing in 2026.”
