Steven Stamkos should go to a team with a creative center
Daily Faceoff’s Anthony DiMarco joins Montreal’s TSN Radio to discuss the possibility of a Steven Stamkos trade from the Nashville Predators and who would be the best fit. DiMarco said that if Stamkos transfers, he needs to be with a creative center.

Anthony DiMarco: “I mean, I think he’s always going to be able to help in some way. I mean, like Nashville, it’s like your brother took over your Be a GM mode on July 1st when you were in school and just screwed everything up. Like, that’s how I feel. Like Barry Trotz did with the Nashville Predators, not trying to throw shade at them, even though I totally shaded them because there’s a lot of good stuff out there. People who work in that organization.”
But you just signed Steven Stamkos, and he’s probably the last player you need stylistically. But you look around the NHL, if you put Steven Stamkos on the wing of a creative center, I really think he has the potential to score a lot of goals.
Just like Montreal. Like, I wonder about this because of Nick Suzuki, but Cole Caufield has played that role in that line and beyond. Do they have a creative center to do that? I often wonder about Toronto. Like, will this work for him and potentially William Nylander and John Tavares? I think this could be a very creative route.
And then you look at more situations in the NHL and it’s like, I just think you’ve got to put a creative coordinator in the middle or put someone on his route that can get him the puck. I think that’s the problem with Nashville. Their weakest position by far is center ice, which includes either Ryan O’ Reilly or a young player like Fedor Svechkov, I believe his name is.

They just don’t have the talent at center to help Stamkos truly advance at his position. So for any team that acquires Stamkos, I believe you can help to some degree, but just make sure you have a strong center group and a center that can help in the game.
