Wayne Rooney said he was “to tell the truth” when he claimed that Arsenal was “having used to” poor performances at key moments of the season as they beat Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 in the first leg of the Champions League semi-finals.

In his debut in the last four games since 2009, Mikel Arteta's side – he appears to be finishing a distant second in the Premier League after the Redsman won the championship on Sunday, when Ousmane Dembele won the fourth minute.

Manchester United's all-time scoring champion Rooney told Prime Video Sport, adding: “They went into a certain stage and things went away.”

Wayne Rooney: Arsenal's “demand belief” and PSG

Arsenal has finished second in the Premier League in each of the last two campaigns and entered the Champions League quarterfinals last season with a 1-0 loss at Bayern Munich.
