“Owen Tippett has been a name on a lot of people’s minds. I did some research on the issue and I think the Flyers are doing everything they can to quiet the noise around him. I think it bothers him a little bit. I think he definitely hears it.
You know, I think the Flyers were trying to say, ‘Look, we didn’t do this. And, I do think the Canucks asked about him. I don’t think this will happen. But I hear the Flyers believe they can get Tippett to another level.
And, like his contract, you look at where it’s going and you agree with it. I think the Flyers saw that, too.
NHL Rumors: Devils, Canucks, Oilers and Penguins
I think they’re trying to quiet the noise, just because it’s not their fault. Sometimes names come up because teams are looking for players. That’s not the case with Tippett. So we’ll see what happens.
Jordan Binnington recalls Patrick Roy after being pulled last week
SDPN: Chris Johnston and Julian McKenzie talk St. Louis Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington, plus flashbacks on Montreal’s Patrick Roy.
McKenzie: “The other night, Jordan Binnington was in the polls and he and his head coach, Jim Montgomery, had a very heated discussion. The connection was made because it was a goaltender because we were on the anniversary of Patrick Roy playing for the Detroit Red Wings and then he indicated to the team president that he had played his last game for the Canadiens.
I’m not saying Jordan Binnington did the same thing, but it’s been a roller coaster season for Jordan Binnington. “
Johnston: “Well, I did get a text from someone the other night saying Jordan Binnington just pulled Patrick Roy? So, I mean, you’re not the only one who saw that and thought that.
NHL Rumors: Will the Edmonton Oilers change their goalie this season?
I understand why. Emotional, fiery guy, a lot like Patrick Roy, but completely different, right? The reason why people draw parallels is, I mean, Jordan Binnington’s name has come up in the rumors at least a little bit.
I think the bigger deal is that things are not going well in St. Louis. There aren’t a ton of goaltenders available for trade. One year away from becoming a UFA.
That being said, nothing happened in that moment. The St. Louis Blues know and love Jordan Binnington. They knew where he came from. They loved the fire in him. But I do think it really highlights what’s going to happen here. “
