NHL Rumors: Are Rasmus Andersen’s days numbered with the Calgary Flames?

Are Rasmus Andersen’s days in Calgary numbered?
sports network: Eric Francis, when asked about Rasmus Andersen and his future with the Calgary Flames. Will losing end up getting Anderson? What type of contract might he be looking for? Do the Flames still have a future?
Matt Marchese: “But when it comes to Rasmus Andersen’s future, how open do you think he is to staying? Like, how much of it is comfort in Calgary, where he’s been his whole career, and how much of it needs to be looked at later on, you know, whether it’s this year or beyond this year, like, how much of that is part of this conversation or is the most important part?”
Francis: “You know, I, I’ll answer the question, look, he, he loves Calgary. He’s been there for ten years. He was drafted there a few years ago, so that’s all he’s ever known.
NHL injuries: Oilers, Wild, Predators, Islanders, Rangers, Kraken, Leafs, Canucks
But I think the failure wore him down. He wears it more than anyone else. And in our postgame scrimmages after we lost games, they almost always sent out Rasmus Andersen as if he had lost his dog that day. You know, that’s the thing, he always felt so bad about every loss. I think, you know, cumulatively, throughout his stay in Calgary, you know, he lost a lot more than he won. Personally I think he might have had enough and wanted to try something different.
Then comes part two. But equally, he loves Calgary and loves his teammates. He talked a lot about this issue yesterday. Like he, he, he was the love in that room. He is a leader.
The other thing, of course, is money. You know, I do get it. From what I understand, last summer when they asked him what he was looking for, he was targeting around $9 million per year. I do believe the Calgary Flames are interested in something in the region of $7 million per year. The gulf between the two is simply too great.
Most importantly, don’t forget, Rasmus Anderson is 29 years old. If you ask me, it’s like two ships passing by in the night. It’s like the organization is trying to get younger, not older. And, you know, signing him to a seven-year contract, that’s another thing he’s looking for.
NHL Rumors: Devils, Canucks and Canadiens
I’m not sure the organization should be considering something like that, especially when it’s a big-ticket item like Rasmus Andersen. Such a wholehearted guy, they love him. I just don’t think it’s appropriate to continue.
