Seattle Kraken Game Day Preview: Host Oilers for matinee tilt – Hockey Writers –

The Seattle Kraken will host the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday, November 29th at 1:00 pm in the second of two home games for Seattle. In their previous game, they lost 3-2 to the Dallas Stars on Wednesday, November 26th. Maybe after that Thanksgiving turkey dinner, the Kraken will be ready to get back to winning form.

Ironically, the Oilers’ final game was also against the Stars. They hosted Dallas on Tuesday and lost 8-3 to the Texas Hockey Team. This game is just a road game for the Oilers. They will return to Edmonton for five home games starting on Dec. 2. Of course, the Oilers want a lot of positive energy at home, so they’re hoping to beat Seattle today.
Siren storyline
Kaapo Kakko was a full participant in Friday’s practice, playing on the right wing of the third line. With Berkly Catton and Frederick Gaudreau as his line partners, he seems to be in good hands. It was his first practice without a red no-contact jersey since his last injury. His return to the ice seems like a good sign that he will be back in the lineup soon, maybe even in today’s game against the Oilers.
Unfortunately, just as the Krakens got one forward back, they lost another. Jaden Schwartz was injured in Wednesday’s game against the Stars. He left the game early and did not return. Seattle announced yesterday that Schwartz will miss the next six weeks with a lower-body injury. He is a key part of the front-six forward group that currently leads the Kraken in points. One can only hope for his speedy recovery.
The player to watch in this game is Vince Dunn. Just 18 seconds into the third quarter, he tied the score with an impressive quick shot. It was his fourth goal of the season and now puts him in the top five overall for the Kraken. He has been a strong two-way defender all season and continues to improve with each game.
