NHL Rumors: Canucks, Flames, Oilers, Blues, Blackhawks, Mammoths and Predators

Elliot Friedman of Sportsnet: Quinn Hughes is unavailable, and I don’t think the Vancouver Canucks will want to trade Filip Hronek and Connor Garland. Don’t think Tyler Myers will give up trade protection.

  • Jason Braff: Thomas Drance writes of the Vancouver Canucks: “Obviously, the focus is on considering player trades in which NHL talent would flow outward in pursuit of young players and maybe even draft picks.”
  • Marco D’Amico: (on Hronek) “When he was young, it cost Vancouver first and second to acquire him from Detroit. I think if Hronek had been available, even with NMC, the cost would have been higher than it is now.”
  • Keith Cavanaugh: (from Parker Encyclopedia) Complete NMC: E. Pettersson (F), Boeser, DeBrusk, Hronek, M. Pettersson, Myers and Lankinen
Partial NTC: Kane, O’Connor and Blueger
Expiring UFA/RFA Kane, Brugger, Sherwood, Reichel, Kampf, Carlson, Sassen, Forbot and Joseph

General manager Craig Conroy is entering the final year of his contract if the Calgary Flames don’t renew his contract.

It might be time for the Edmonton Oilers to consider trading Stuart Skinner, even if it might just be a lateral move, but they’ve said they don’t want to do that. He does have a $2.6 million budget cap hit. Does anyone think he could succeed elsewhere?

  • NHL Rumor Report: Kypreos on Sportsnet: “The strongest speculation is linking Jordan Binnington to Edmonton; the Oilers are also considering whether they could also bring in a defender from St. Louis. This potential trade is likely to be built around Stuart Skinner returning to St. Louis.”

Nick Kypreos recommends St. Louis Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington to the Oilers. It is believed that if the Blues want to do this, the Oilers will need Binnington’s permission.

Goaltender Laurent Brosoit is training with the Chicago Blackhawks and will likely spend some time in the AHL. There’s no room for him in Chicago.

The Utah Mammoths are looking to add and have a lot of draft picks and prospects.

Don’t believe the Filip Forsberg trade speculation at this point, and it’s hard to see them wanting to retain salary.

  • Jim Billinger: “Barry Trotz said on 102.5 the Game, now that the coaches are not moving assets, everything is on the table and we’re going to access all those things and make those decisions.”
  • NHL Rumor Report: Elliott Friedman on Ryan O’Reilly rumors on The FAN Hockey Show: ‘To me, he probably has the biggest decision to make because you know how many teams are going to be lining up for him’
