Devils place Cody Glass on IR, recall Ethan Edwards from Utica – The Hockey Writer – NHL News

On Monday, November 17, the New Jersey Devils announced that they have placed forward Cody Glass on injured reserve (IR). In addition, they recalled defenseman Ethan Edwards from the Devils’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Utica Comets.

Glass has appeared in ten games with the Devils so far, scoring three goals, including his first game of the season. He had been placed on IR earlier this season, on Oct. 28. He returned on November 6 and made a huge impact by scoring a goal in this game.

This is the first time Edwards has been called up by the Devils this season. He played 13 games for the Comets, scoring 5 points with 1 goal and 4 assists. He has yet to play his first NHL game, but it seems likely that he will get that opportunity sooner or later.

The Devils were hurt both forward and defensively. The forwards are dealing with injuries, especially since Jack Hughes will miss the next 6-8 weeks. The absences of Brett Pace and Dougie Hamilton will certainly hurt the blue line as well.

The Devils are heading into the third game of a five-game road trip. However, they will return to Jersey from Washington, D.C., to train at home before traveling to Florida to face the Tampa Bay Lightning. Edwards will join the team at this practice and then travel with the team from there.

Hopefully there will be some good news when the team returns to New Jersey before continuing their journey. Perhaps Connor Brown or Hamilton will join the team for the second leg of the road trip. In the meantime, at least the Devils still have Edwards to help out on the blue line.
