The Flames enter the game after a win snapped a three-game losing streak, while the Jets have beaten the Ice City in four of their last five games.

Although the Jets and Flames combined for 20 shots in a fast-paced first period, Connor Hellebuyck and Dustin Wolfe showed why they are considered two of the best goaltenders in the NHL by standing up and holding the first period scoreless despite some quality scoring chances in both directions.
However, the second quarter is when the game begins. The game started with a nice cross-ice pass from Kyle Connor that found a streaking Mark Scheifele, who made no mistake and opened the scoring just over seven minutes into the second period.
The lead didn’t last long, as the Flames responded less than a minute later with Jake Bean’s first goal of the season, a spot-up shot that sailed off the Jets player’s stick and over Hellebuyck’s shoulder.
The goal was answered almost immediately, as Tanner Pearson picked up a loose puck after a deflected shot, ripped it away from Wolfe, and then picked up the bounce to tie the game 30 seconds after the Flames’ goal.
Keeping with the theme of quick reactions, the Flames tied the game at two just over five minutes later with less than seven minutes to play on Kevin Barr’s second goal of the season, a rocketing shot from the point.
This was the last ball of the second inning, and the two teams entered the second intermission tied. They continued to trade goals in the final frame, with Cole Perfetti converting a one-time shot off Conner’s stick and rebounding it into Wolfe’s crease to give the Jets a 3-2 lead.
Although Helleback made a couple of great saves on a late power play, Matthew Coronato tied the game with just over a minute left and grabbed a rebound for a man advantage to send the game into overtime.
In overtime, with less than two minutes remaining, Scheifele was awarded a penalty kick. However, the Jets powered through a four-on-three matchup and forced a shootout, with Gabriel Verardi scoring the winning goal to seal the victory 4-3.
The win capped a six-game road trip for the Jets, who will begin a three-game homestand on Tuesday against the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Flames also begin seven of eight road games against the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday.
