Devils prepare to host Islanders, Zach McEwen returns to lineup – Hockey Writer – New Jersey Devils

The New Jersey Devils will host the New York Islanders on Monday, November 10th in their first game of the season. The game ended a three-game homestand for the Devils. The previous two games had come with wins, including a shootout victory against the Pittsburgh Penguins in the most recent game.

The Islanders opened a seven-game road trip with a dominant victory over the New York Rangers on Saturday, November 8th. They will take on the Devils before traveling to the West to face the Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday, November 13th.

demon storyline

The biggest headline heading into tonight’s game is that Zack MacEwen has been activated from injured reserve (IR) and will return to the lineup. He played in just one game this season before suffering an upper-body injury against the Columbus Blue Jackets. The game also marked his debut with New Jersey, which acquired Curtis McDermid from the Ottawa Senators before the season began. Hopefully McEwan can make a strong impact upon his return.

Connor Brown will miss the game again. Although he was initially listed as day-to-day, he did not participate in the morning skate as the injury continued to bother him. He was not placed in the integrated observation area, so there is no date set for when he will return. Hopefully he recovers well and can be back with the Devils soon.

Arseny Gritsyuk, New Jersey Devils (Jess Starr/The Hockey Writers)

The most noteworthy player of the game is Arseny Gritsyuk, who opened the scoring for the Devils on Saturday off a feed from Kris Letang. The young rookie started the season with 15 points. He’s a great addition to the Devils’ forward group and one of the players fans should keep an eye on tonight.
