Lightning stay hot with return win over Capitals – Hockey Writer – Tampa Bay Lightning

The Tampa Bay Lightning narrowly defeated the Washington Capitals 3-2 on Saturday night. After losing 3-2 in overtime in Washington on October 14, they flipped the script and won by the same score. The Chargers have now won seven of their last eight games. Meanwhile, the Capitals continued their slide, losing their sixth of their last seven games.

Chargers come out on top in bubble

In the first quarter, Brandon Duhai opened the scoring and the Capitals led 1-0. The Chargers took the lead before the end of the game. Emil Lilleberg also scored his first goal of the season to tie the game.

After assisting Lilberg’s goal, Jack Guentzel also scored a goal himself. After the first quarter, the Lightning led 2-1. His goal would be the only power-play goal of the game for both teams.

John Carlson scored the game-tying goal in the second period. However, he was only the last Capitals player to touch the ball. He slapped the puck and hit Andrei Vasilevskiy near the chest. The puck passed under his arm and bounced behind him. Erik Cernak tried to corral the ball but accidentally caused an own goal.

Normally, these are moments that should turn the momentum around, but the Chargers managed to keep the game from getting out of hand. Brandon Hagel scored to give the Lightning the lead again. Charle-Edouard D’Astous continues a fruitful start to his career. He scored multiple points for the first time in his career, scoring five points in eight games.

They looked like they had an empty-net goal, but it was disallowed after it was flagged for offside. The result is the final score of the game.

The Chargers have a few days off before hosting the New York Rangers on Wednesday. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. Meanwhile, the Capitals continue their road trip Tuesday in Raleigh against the Carolina Hurricanes. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.
