Two teams monitoring Ja Morant situation

Morant’s frustration reaches new level
Ja Morant’s relationship with the Memphis Grizzlies appears to be deteriorating rapidly. The two-time All-Star admitted he has lost his “joy” after the team lost its third straight game on Monday, a sign of growing discontent in the locker room.
Morant’s relationship with new head coach Tomas Isalo reportedly remains strained, and his body language reflects that frustration. The 26-year-old guard has looked visibly distracted in recent games, a stark contrast to his usual high-energy style that once defined Memphis’ identity.
The Grizzlies are off to a rocky start to the season and the pressure is mounting. Morant’s future with the team, once considered untouchable, now seems increasingly uncertain.
Timberwolves and Kings show interest
according to CompetitorSam Amick said both teams are already paying close attention to Morant’s situation. “Per team sources, the Minnesota Timberwolves are one of them. So are the Sacramento Kings,” Amick reported.
While both teams are reportedly interested in the possibility of acquiring Morant, Memphis front office has yet to express any interest in trading him. Meanwhile, the Houston Rockets were also mentioned, but don’t appear to be on the roster despite losing Fred VanVleet to a torn ACL. “According to team sources, it’s unlikely they’re going after him,” Amick noted.
Trade value and field decline
Morant’s performance has declined significantly this season. He averaged 20.4 points per game, his lowest score since his sophomore year, but shot just 39.3% from the field and a career-worst 13.9% from three-point range.
A decline in performance, coupled with an increase in off-field drama, could complicate his trade value. Still, the explosive guard has two years left on his $197 million max contract and remains one of the league’s most talented young players.

What’s next for Memphis?
If Memphis continues to struggle, the team could face a tough decision: re-draft Morant and rebuild trust, or explore trade options before tensions boil over.
For now, the Timberwolves and Kings are waiting quietly. If Morant’s relationship with the Grizzlies doesn’t improve soon, this winter could bring one of the most dramatic moves in the NBA.
