Eberle scores twice in Kraken’s 3-2 win over Oilers – The Hockey Writers – Edmonton Oilers

The Seattle Kraken host the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday, October 25th in their first game of the season. The Kraken are coming off a six-game road trip that ended with a win over the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday, October 23rd. The Oilers also won a game on Thursday, defeating the Montreal Canadiens. Both teams were looking for consecutive wins, but in the end the Kraken defeated the Oilers 3-2.

A minute into the game, the Oilers had a shot in the back of the net, but Joey Daccord saved it. Berkeley Carton picks up loose puck. He passed the ball to Marty Beniers, who went two-on-one with Jordan Eberle. He passed the puck to Eberle for his first goal of the night.

Six minutes into the second period, Ben Meyers stole the puck in the Oilers’ offensive zone. He passed the ball to Ryan Winterton, who combined with Tye Kartye to slide the ball into the Kraken area. He passed the ball to Carty, whose shot sailed past Stuart Skinner to give Seattle a two-goal lead.

Andrew Mangiapane sat down 14 minutes into the second period when Adam Larsson tripped him. Midway through the power struggle, the Oilers got to work. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins caught the puck at the blue line and passed it to Leon Draisaitl. He passed the ball to Evan Bouchard on the left side, whose shot sailed past Daccord to bring the Oilers within one.

Although Jake Roslovic had a chance to tie the game in the final seconds, the horn sounded to end the period and Daccord stopped the ball, giving the Kraken a one-goal lead heading into the third period.

With eight minutes left in the third period, Bouchard tried to keep the puck in the Oilers zone, but he hit the puck past Beniers. He and Eberle skated to the Kraken area in another 2-on-1 match. He passed the ball to Eberle, whose shot bounced off the crossbar for his second goal of the night.

Two minutes later, the Oilers once again cut the deficit to one point. Darnell Nurse caught the pass, kept the puck in the Oilers zone and passed it to Draisaitl. He passed the puck across the ice to Matthias Ekholm, who shot it. Nurse stood in front of the net and put the puck in the net. However, it wasn’t enough to keep the Oilers in the game as the Kraken won their second straight game.

Next step

The Kraken will open a five-game homestand when they host the Canadiens on Tuesday, October 28. The Oilers will play on Sunday night as they travel to Vancouver to take on the Canucks.
