Brennan Osman, Owen Tippett and San Jose

Brennan Osman is leaving Broadway?

Vincent C. Mercogliano (The Athletic): Yes, Brennan Osman is in trade rumors. The New York Rangers’ 2021 first-round pick was assigned to Hartford exactly one week before training camp ended. Four preseason games were mediocre, with Osman scoring just one goal. That’s it! Considering things are not going well for Osman in New York, a trade seems possible.

There’s nothing wrong with starting over, the reality is that Rangers are willing to make a move here. Brett Beard and Gabe Perreault replaced Osman in the organizational hierarchy. The latter two are more likely to be drafted by New York if injuries occur.

NHL Rumors: Some players will wait until July 1

Others see the signing of Connor Sheary as an organizational dagger for Osman. Simply put, the Rangers have too few spots on their roster. With teams asking, New York could make a move sooner rather than later.

Owen Tippett and Philadelphia

Kyle Morton of “The Daily Show”: Well, Owen Tippett is another one of the names that is generating interest from some NHL teams. No one wants to be the first to make a trade at the beginning of the season. However, Tippett’s name is popping up more and more, and the chances of a pre-Thanksgiving deal are growing in the United States. Did the deal involve Tippett? It depends on who you ask.

For now, the team is more interested in deploying Tippett. If he didn’t get the minutes, they would call more often. Tippett has a long-term deal that’s good for the bottom line. This is a player who has surpassed 30 goals twice in his young career. Philadelphia also has Matvey Michkov, Bobby Brink, Tyson Forrest and Travis Konecny. There are several areas where Philadelphia needs improvement.

Does the deal make sense? Yes. Is there anything imminent? Of course not!

Sharks fish for young defensemen

David Paniotta in the Fourth Period: It’s no secret that the San Jose Sharks have a ton of young talent on the front end. The defense has a lot of players with expiring contracts. Yes, that means the search for a young defender is ongoing. Nick Leddy, Marco Ferraro, John Klingberg, Vincent Desharnais and Timothy Lillejegren are all very potential trade deadline bait.

With young goalkeepers and young forwards on the books, this is the next logical step. The problem may be getting there because other teams know it.

NHL Rumors: Sharks, Oilers and more

There are many options to choose from. Some of these players didn’t ask for a trade but knew what was coming next. Their time in San Jose is dwindling. Moving is inevitable. These rumors have only gotten louder since last season.

At some point, the first domino will fall, and then the others.
