David Pannotta: “You represent Alex Tuch. We know, you know, the lines of communication are open. Is there anything you can tell us about his status with the Sabers?”

Bartlett: “Yeah, no updates at the moment. As you mentioned, the communication has been great. It’s been consistent all summer. You know, we’ve had some good conversations. Got everyone’s thoughts.

We’re well aware that the Buffalo Sabers want to re-sign Alex Tuch to a long-term contract. Kevin Adams and the staff there have communicated that very well, very clearly, very effectively. I think hopefully we’ve sent the message to them that Alex would be happy to stay in Buffalo as well.

You know, we didn’t get to know the reasons for the deal before the season, and at this point, we’re just putting it on the back burner. Obviously, things didn’t start out perfectly in Week 1 in Buffalo, win or lose. I think, you know, I saw him in Boston the other day. Competitive gaming is hard at work. They’re not giving up, like I still think this is a better team than their record is.

But I think we’ve all decided it’s better to just try to get some wins there and try to focus on what’s going on. They had some injuries. Alex is the leader of the group and both guys play smart and, you know, in the room. So he wants to focus and not get distracted. So we want to let everyone know, like we’re just putting this on hold for now. It doesn’t mean we’re closing the door on signings. He means nothing except that you know he has to do his best to help the Buffalo Sabers win during this stretch.
