TROIA and PGA Aroeira to launch new revamped Mena Golf Tour – Golf News

Details – Hospitality, Sports, Leisure – Portugal’s largest golf course management company – will be proud to launch this year’s MENA Golf Tour after Troia Resort and PGA Aroeira were announced as the two opening venues for the new season.

The two resorts near Lisbon, part of Details’ 12-course portfolio, will launch the new ‘Portugal Swing’ as part of a revised MENA Tour schedule that also includes tournaments in Egypt, Morocco and Jordan before the season ends in the Middle East.

The 2025 schedule will begin with two new qualifying schools competing in the 36-hole Q Series 1 and 2, which will be held in Troia from November 18-22. Q Series 1 will be held on November 18-19 on the resort’s renowned Robert Trent Jones Jnr designed course, and Q Series 2 will be held on November 21-22 with a $50,000 purse.

The tournament will then move to the PGA Aroeira Lisboa, one of the most iconic brands in Portuguese golf, for a 54-hole championship from November 25th to 27th. With room for up to 102 players, professionals will compete for a $100,000 prize on the resort’s acclaimed PGA Aroeira No. 1 course, which has hosted a series of high-profile events, including the 1996 and 1997 Portuguese Open.

Located in the Alentejo region, just an hour’s drive from Lisbon and surrounded by a unique ecosystem and unique golden sandy beaches, Tróia has been a recognized name in the Portuguese golf and leisure market for more than four decades.

Tróia’s comprehensive facilities include an 18-hole championship golf course and clubhouse, a 132-room five-star hotel, a 242-room four-star hotel, conference center, spa and a variety of tourist rental apartments and private residences. PGA Aroeira Lisboa, a 30-minute drive from the Portuguese capital, is the only PGA national course in Portugal and has two 18-hole championship courses – PGA Aroeira No.1 and PGA Aroeira No.2.

Both layouts have undergone significant maintenance upgrades over the past 18 months to enhance the playing experience for members and visitors, while further investment will include the construction of a new clubhouse and the completion of the €200 million Aroeira Collections by Missoni Property Development, which will reposition PGA Aroeira as the best golf destination south of Lisbon.

Tróia Resort and PGA Aroeira are part of a growing portfolio of golf courses in Portugal, managed by Details – Hospitality, Sports, Leisure – a management company whose portfolio also includes Vilamoura, Monte Rei and Palmares Ocean Living & Golf. The group also manages 23 hotels across the country.
