Twins claim Ryan Kreidler – MLB trade rumors

Twins announce utility Ryan Kreidler Claimed off waivers from Buccaneers. Two days ago, Pittsburgh designated Kreidler for assignment. Minnesota’s 40-man roster jumped from 38 to 39 players.
Kreidler, who turns 28 next month, is a multi-positional player who has seen limited playing time in the majors. He has appeared in each of the past four major league seasons, but has made just 211 total appearances over those four years. He struck out in 31.8 percent of his at-bats and posted a dismal .138/.208/.176 line.
His minor league players are naturally higher in quality and quantity. During his minor league career, he posted a .236/.342/.401 line and a 106 wRC+ in 1,963 games. That includes a .238/.363/.389 line and a 109 wRC+ in 401 games in 2025. If he can bring more of this offense to the major leagues, he could become a useful versatile guy. He has experience at all three infield positions to the left of first base as well as center field and left field.
However, his grip on the Tigers roster spot is slipping. 2025 is his final option year, meaning he will have no choice in the future. The Tigers designated the left-hander when they optioned him in August Drew Summers. The Pirates claimed him, but he was back on the field this week when they claimed the outfielder Will Robertson.
The Twins had a lot of questions about their roster heading into the offseason. They went through a big sell-off at the deadline, selling off a lot of stuff, including infielders Carlos Correa and outfielders Harrison Bader. They’re likely to take more rebuilding action this winter, which could include things like Trevor Lanark, Matt Wallner or Royce Lewis.
With so much uncertainty, there could be a path for someone like Kreidler to fill some of the vacant playing time. It’s also possible the Twins will place him back on waivers in the winter and hope he clears out so they can keep him in non-roster depth.
