Tobias Myers and Ben Casparius join NLCS roster

The Brewers and Dodgers will begin the National League Championship Series in less than an hour. Each team made one change to their respective division series rosters.
Milwaukee made a move in the bullpen, replacing Nick Mills for Tobias Miles. General manager Matt Arnold told reporters the decision was primarily to add length to pitchers (link via Adam McCalvy of MLB.com). Mills has completed two innings in just one game this season. Of his 63 games, all but five were one-inning games or less. Myers was a starter for most of his career and had a few long 2-3 innings of relief work down the stretch. The Brewers will rely heavily on their relievers, especially in games they don’t start Freddy Peraltaand there are Aaron Ashby The bullpen game kicks off tonight.
Still, it’s a bit surprising that the hard-throwing Mills was left off the roster entirely. Throughout the season, only Trevor Megill Captain Pat Murphy enters games with high leverage on average. Mills ranks third on the team with 16 saves. He also pitched 3 in five games in the Division Series victory over the Cubs, throwing 1 2/3 scoreless balls while striking out 3 of the 7 batters he faced. Mills missed several weeks in September with back tightness, but Arnold said the decision was less about health and more about the multiple innings required in seven games.
The Dodgers also made changes, having 11 pitchers (excluding Shohei Ohtani) and 15 position players for the series against the Phillies. right-handed Ben Casparis When a team replaces its third catcher Dalton Rush. This is the most noteworthy positive sign will smith. The Dodgers were concerned about letting Smith catch up early in the Philadelphia series. The star backstop came on as a pinch-hitter in the first two games because of a broken finger.
Smith has performed well over the last two games and has apparently performed well enough that the Dodgers no longer feel like they need to keep the charge motivated behind Smith. Ben Rotwit. The 24-year-old Rushing struck out in a pinch-hitter in his only appearance in the Division Series. Kasparis adds a sweeper option to the bullpen after pitching to a 4.64 ERA in 77 2/3 innings during the regular season. He was very good in the first two months, but had a 6.31 ERA in 27 games after June 1st.
