The Vegas Golden Knights aren’t the only team to sign Rasmus Andersen

Calgary Flames to have multiple offers for Rasmus Andersen
Sportsnet’s Elliott Friedman joins Gord Stellick and Scott Laughlin on the Sirius XM NHL Network Radio morning skate show. He was asked about the situation with Rasmus Andersen and the Vegas Golden Knights as they have cap space with Alex Pietrangelo on season-ending LTIR.

Scott Laughlin: “Friedge, the stuff we’ve been talking about is pretty good, so Alex Piertrangelo is expected to be shut down. So they have enough money to play here and they’re going to do the (Jack) Eichel expansion, which, like you said, it’s going to be out here in the near future. Obviously, Gord and I have been talking about it and Rasmus Andersson has been letting people know for months that Las Vegas is where he wants to be.”
NHL Rumors: Edmonton Oilers, Winnipeg Jets, do stars need less jerseys?
Elliott Friedman: “It doesn’t just exist there. It doesn’t just exist in Las Vegas.”
Laughlin: “Well, let us know if there are any other teams that could be in the Rasmus Andersen sweepstakes.”
Friedman: “I think there were two. Like, Anderson did come out and say, I know Vegas tried hard to get him last year, and so did Los Angeles, but I think he vetoed a trade to Los Angeles. I think one of the problems with Vegas was that the Golden Knights and the Flames couldn’t come up with a deal that satisfied both parties. So it didn’t happen.
I don’t think Rasmus Andersen has classified himself anywhere where he’s going now. I think he’s going to make the best deal for Calgary. Then he can decide, since he’s in the final year of his contract, where he wants to go long-term. I think what’s going on this year is that if Calgary decides to trade him, there’s going to be a lot of contenders interested in him as a player. So we’ll see.
NHL Rumors: Will Rasmus Andersen re-sign with Calgary Flames?
But to my knowledge, Vegas is the first team to play Pietrangelo under these new rules. Like, some of the other guys, like Ryan Ellis, everyone knew they weren’t going to play, but Pietrangelo’s media conference this year raised questions about whether he’d be out for the entire year.
Well, it’s all over now. He will miss the entire year, and he has already been declared out, including the playoffs. Yes, they’ll have cap space, so we’ll see what they do with it. “
