What is TGL?
TGL stands for Tomorrow’s Golf League. The event pits teams of PGA Tour golfers against each other in an indoor arena at the SoFi Center in Florida.
A virtual pitch using a large screen projection system for long shots. Players use short grass for shots from the tee and fairway, tall grass for shots from the rough, and sand for shots from the bunker.
For short shots (any shot within 50 yards of the pin) and putting, there is a true rotating green on the course.
Who invented it?
Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and Mike McCarley are co-founders. The company is called TMRW Sports.
What is the format?
TGL has six teams, each consisting of four players. In each match, one player is excluded and the other three players play 15 holes in a match play format.
Each hole counts 1 point, and the team with the fewest strokes per hole wins. A draw is worth 0 points. In a game, there are two games played in two different formats:
Section 1: 9-hole “Triple Baseball” – three-on-three, teams taking turns hitting the ball.
Session 2: 6-hole “singles” – a one-on-one, head-to-head match in which each player plays two holes.
Overtime: If the game is tied at the end of regulation, players will play head-to-head until one team successfully hits two shots closer to the pin than their opponent.
Each game has four timeouts (two in triples and two in singles).
Hammer – A strategic tool that raises the stakes on a single hole, increasing its value by one point. Each team starts a game with three hammers and can use up to one hammer per hole. If one side throws the hammer before the hole begins, the opponent must accept it and the hole is worth two points. If a throw is made in the hole, the opponent can accept it (increasing the score) or reject it, giving the hole to the throwing team. The highest score on a single hole is three points, earned when both teams play and receive the hammer.
A win in regular season or overtime is worth 2 points, a loss in overtime or regular season is worth 1 point.
The top four teams after the league stage advance to the playoffs, while the finals are played in a best-of-three format.
What happened last year?
In last year’s first TGL final, Atlanta Drive defeated New York Golf Club 2-0.
What’s the verdict on Season 1?
Overall, the show was considered a success, with ESPN ratings described as “stable” (higher than the show it replaced) and the product attracting a younger audience than the average PGA Tour event.
The pace of play was praised – using 40-second game blocks – and viewers loved the two-hour broadcast window for each game.
On the downside, the technique was shaky at times, with Tiger Woods having a shot that went 100 yards farther than expected.

Are there any changes for Season 2?
Yes, the inaugural season takes place in early January 2025, but this time the opener — New York vs. Atlanta — will take place on December 28 at 3 p.m. ET.
Last time, all games were played on Monday or Tuesday. Season 2 has some games scheduled for Friday and Sunday.
What is the league schedule?
Following New York vs. Atlanta on Dec. 28, the next league game — Boston vs. Los Angeles — will take place on Saturday, Jan. 3. The final league game – Bay vs. Jupiter – will be played on Wednesday, March 4.
When will the play-offs be held?
Semifinals: Doubles Tuesday 17 March
Final series:
Game 1: Monday, March 23
Game 2: Tuesday, March 24
Game 3 (if required): Tuesday, March 24

Yes, plans for a third season are already underway. The 2027 edition will feature a new team – Motor City GC.
