Shanghai Master: Cameron Norrie & Alexander Zverev in the third round, Daniil Medvedev passed

He defeated Medvedev twice this year – in five unforgettable matches at the Australian Open, the Russian was forced to retire with cramps in the semifinals of last week’s China Open.
The 19-year-old continued to enter the fourth round in Melbourne, beating two top five players this year at Medvedev and Lorenzo Musetti.
He was defeated by world No. 2 Jannik Sinner in the China Open final, who was forced to retire in Shanghai on Monday.
Medvedev hopes to end a tough year in the climax, beating Spain’s Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 6-3 7-6 (7-5).
Earlier, the world’s third-ranked Alexander Zverev suffered another exit as he beat Arthur Rinderknech 4-6 6-3 6-2.
This is the second time that Frenchman Rinderknech beat Zverev this year, and he knocked him out of Wimbledon in the first round.
Germany’s Zverev reached the Australian Open finals early this year, but the following season has only had one impressive season with only one championship.
“My year was horrible, I just played tennis,” Zverev said.
“Unfortunately, it’s not common to me these days.”
