More than 80 golfers have come together recently at the Addington Golf Club in Surrey, and it is the first golf day for prostate cancer in the UK, focusing on raising awareness of prostate cancer in the black community.
Organized by the British Black Health Equality Team with Ray Nyabola of Black British Golfer and Mark Henry of the African Caribbean Golf Association, the event sold out and saw the players enjoy a day of golf, friendship, friendship and purpose – at the same time, the crowd focus, accompanied by a disease, has a disproportionate impact on black blacks.

Those present at the meeting included Premier League hero Andrew Cole and radio and television host DJ Spoony.
Black people are twice as likely to be diagnosed throughout their lives, while others are one in eighth.
While the disease can be arrested early, outdated NHS guidelines and health inequality mean that too many black people are diagnosed too late and miss potentially life-saving treatments.
Nyabola, founder of Black British golfer, said he hopes the event is the first of many and why awareness raising in the black community is so important: “This event proves the power of golf outside of golf.
The game has always been about the community and we show that it can also be a catalyst for life-saving conversations. We are honored to stand with prostate cancer in the UK to raise awareness that needs most. ”
Very high attendance rate
Henry, president of the African Caribbean Golf Association, added: “Addington’s turnout is a lot, demonstrating the importance of messaging in the black community and demonstrating an appetite for combining sports with purpose.
For us, it’s about making sure blacks understand their risks and feel capable of taking action. Golf brings people together, and today is about combining passion for games with action for health. ”

“We know that prostate cancer can be cured if it is discovered early, but too many black people are at risk of dying because they are diagnosed too late. Not only that,
Black people in their 60s are 14% less likely to have a late diagnosis than white people of the same age. This is our first black community golf day, and this is not the last one. ” he added.
