Fangraphs Weekly Mail Bags: September 27, 2025

As we get into the last weekend of the regular season, there is still a lot to do. How exciting! When I sat down to write this mailbag, there were still two divisional matches and three wildcards between the two leagues. In the American League, four teams are competing for three positions, while three National League clubs compete for the Senior Tour final.
Of course, we will not just watch points in the next few days. Will Cal Raleigh hit 62 or 63 home runs this season? If he does, will he be enough to win the AL MVP award from Judge AARON? Personally, I’m going to watch if Corbin Carroll hits three triples. He entered Friday’s game with 17 strokes this season and has more than 30 doubles, 30 home runs and 30 stolen bases. My bold pre-season prediction is that Carol will be the fifth 20/20/20 player of all time, the first one that both Jimmy Rollins and Curtis Granderson did in 2007.
I have a quick programming note to mention before reaching this week’s mailbag. We will still be doing mailbags once a week during the playoffs, but we may move around on specific days depending on the playoff schedule. Our plan is to start with the division series before each playoffs. As usual, I would like to remind everyone that this mailbag is unique to Fangraphs members.
