Carlos Alcaraz will face Sebastian Baez in his debut at the Kinoshita Group Japan Open Tennis Championships after Monday’s raffle.

Espanyol played for the ATP 500 hard game for the first time and met with eighth seed Frances Tiafoe in the quarterfinals and met Norwegian Casper Ruud in the semifinals.

Alcaraz will lead the meeting with Baez with a 2-0 Lexus ATP Head2head series, who returned to No. 1 in the PIF ATP rankings earlier this month, when he beat Jannik Sinner in the U.S. Open final to finish his sixth place.

Ruud is Madrid’s Ruud this year, facing the Japanese wildcard Shintaro Mochizuki in the first round, while Tiafoe plays the qualifier. Tiafoe of the United States reached the finals in Tokyo in 2022. In the first half, Denis Shapovalov, the seventh seed of the two Tokyo semi-finals, also played against Germany’s Daniel Altmaier.

All of this adds up

The second seed, Taylor Fritz, won the trophy in Japan in 2022. The United States plays Canada’s Gabriel Diallo in the first round and can meet with fifth seed Tomas Machac in the quarterfinals. The Czech Magazine began to oppose the qualifiers.

The third seed, Holger Rune, is a potential semi-final opponent for Fritz, who met the next-generation ATP final proposed by PIF champion Hamad Medjedovic in the first round. Runes can play Alex Michelsen in the second round and the sixth seed Ugo Humbert in the quarterfinals. Last year’s finalist Humbert started against Jenson Brooksby.

The ATP 500 event will be held from September 24 to 30.
