Fangraphs Weekly Mail Bags: September 20, 2025

I promise, I don’t plan to write about the 2019 Rattlesnake in the back-to-back version of this column. It was Ketel Marte’s breakout season and the year they traded Zack Greinke to Astros at the trade deadline, but beyond that, they were the most memorable team. Anyway, it’s good – Arizona ranked second in the NL West with a score of 85-77 – but hardly enough visibility was remembered in the same column six years later.

But isn’t this the beauty of this mail bag? This is the space for you to ask any and all baseball questions, no matter how stupid or irrelevant they are. As far as we’re concerned here, the 2019 Rattlers are probably just one of the most relevant and irrelevant teams in baseball. I mentioned them last week because they were the team that Gerardo Parra faced on August 3, when he became the third player ever to allow five or more runs without having to record a game in his only professional pitching performance.

But before we arrive at the 2019 Rattlesnake in this week’s mailbag, I want to remind everyone that while anyone can submit a question, this mailbag is unique to Fangraphs members.
