Calgary’s flames expand Mikel’s rebound
Hockey Pedia: Calgary Flames sign Mikael Backlund’s two-year contract extension with a salary cap of $3.25 million. He will have a complete no-action clause by December 31, 2027, and then launch 10 no-trade clauses on January 1, 2028.

Chicago Blackhawks: The Chicago Blackhawks have signed a two-year contract with defenseman Wyatt Kaiser with a salary limit of $1.7 million. Kaiser is RFA.

St. Louis Bruce Expands Nathan Walker
Hockey Pedia: St. Louis Blues signs forward Nathan Walker to a two-year contract extension and receives a $887,500 block. He entered the final year of the deal and received a cap of $775,000.

NHL injury pointed out
Shawn Hutcheon: Boston Bruis GM Don Sweeney on forward David Pastrnak: “David Pastrnak won’t skate for the first few days. His last training obstacle, he has some tendinitis. He will do full exercise earlier next week.”
Michael Augello: Goalkeeper ukko-pekka luukkonen suffers from a lower body injury, which is considered daily but may be longer, said Kevyn Adams, general manager of Buffalo Sabers.
Meghan Angley: Goalkeeper Mackenzie Blackwood is out every week but is expected to be close to the start of the regular season, said Jared Bednar, a Colorado Avalanche coach.
Forward Logan O’Connor should be able to return in early November as he will be back with a hip injury.
Defensive Sam Girard has suffered a low injury but should be ready to start the season.
Daniel Nugent-Bowman: Edmonton Oilers forward Zach Heyman (dislocated) said he is not ready to start training camp. He is improving and skating by himself. There is no timetable, although he is expected to start practicing with his teammates at the start of the season.
Alex Baumgartner: Florida Panthers general manager Bill Zito said forward Matthew Tkachuk had surgery and would be out for a while. There is no exact schedule, but it sounds like it will be until at least December.
NHL Rumor: Los Angeles Kings and Las Vegas Golden Knights
Forward Tomas Nosek will be out for several months after being injured during training.
Chris Stevenson: Ottawa Senator Travis Green said defensive Nick Jensen could start skating next week, and it’s too early to say whether he’s ready to start the season. Jensen is having hip surgery.
